Sunny start to the week with westerly winds
The week begins with sunny weather across Shumen, though morning cloud will linger over western and central northern Bulgaria before clearing. Afternoon cumulus cloud over mountain areas may bring brief showers in places.
A moderate to strong west-northwesterly wind will blow throughout the day. Temperatures will reach 19–24°C across the region, around 20°C in the city itself.

Planned power cuts in Trakiya and other neighbourhoods
Energo-Pro has scheduled maintenance work on the electricity network today and in the coming days. Power will be off from 08:00 to 17:30 on several streets in the Trakiya district, including Kolyu Ficheto, Lozengrad, and Nikola Vaptsarov. Brief interruptions of around 30 minutes are possible in other parts of the city through 29 May.
In Veliki Preslav, an urgent repair today from 13:00 to 15:30 will cut power to parts of the town centre, including streets around Bratya Miladinovi and Tsar Osvoboditel. Villages including Belokopitovo, Pristoe, Mogila, and Tsarkvitsa will see outages for construction work running until 22 May.

Shumen 61 take silver in men's handball
Shumen 61 claimed the silver medal in this season's elite men's handball championship after losing the second match of the superfinal to Lokomotiv (Gorna Oryahovitsa) 21–27 in Arena Byala. The defeat sealed a 2–0 series loss and marked Shumen's third consecutive year as runners-up.
Key players Dzhoshkun Yakubov and Aleksandar Dimitrov missed the match through injury, and head coach Nikola Karastoyanov was suspended. Assistant Kostadin Semerdzhiev led the side. 'We hoped to achieve another success,' he said afterwards. 'Lokomotiv are more complete, more classy. We tried to be worthy opponents.' Pivot Dimitar Plamenov was named best defender of the championship.

Council service counters temporarily reorganised
Shumen municipality has temporarily reorganised counter service at the administrative building while energy-efficiency renovation work takes place. From today, the Local Taxes and Waste Charge department will operate from counters 2, 6, and 7 instead of the usual layout.
Counter 7 will handle declarations, certificates, and other administrative services. The municipality says it will complete the work as quickly as possible and aims to avoid disruption to services.
