Mayor Hristov's reception day on 26 May
Shumen's mayor, Professor Hristo Hristov, will hold a reception day on Tuesday 26 May from 14:00 in Room 203 of the municipal administration building.
Deputy mayors, the municipal secretary, and Municipal Council chairwoman Asya Asparuhova will hold their own receptions between 10:00 and 13:00 the same day. Appointments can be made by calling 054/857 771, via the Municipality's website, or in person at Room 301.

Driver caught with four drugs in his system
A 37-year-old man from Novi Pazar was stopped on the Ruse–Varna road near his home town around 18:45 on Friday. Roadside testing showed he'd driven after using cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine, and amphetamine. He gave a blood sample for lab analysis and was detained for up to 24 hours. Fast-track proceedings have been opened.

Five detained with narcotics in Shumen region
Shumen police detained five people over a 48-hour period in mid-May during specialised operations targeting drug offences.
On 15 May, a 28-year-old man from Dalgopol was stopped on Maritsa Street in Shumen around 18:30. Officers found 1.5 grams of cannabis and 0.5 grams of white crystalline substance on him, plus more cannabis at his rented flat on Slavyanski Boulevard. He was detained for 24 hours; fast-track proceedings followed.
Two hours later, a 37-year-old and a 36-year-old were stopped in a car in Veliki Preslav. Police found 4 grams of cannabis in the vehicle. Both were detained.
At 20:55 the same evening, a 15-year-old Shumen resident was checked on Strandzha Street. Officers found two vials of vape liquid (35ml total) and two vape devices. He was detained pending expert analysis.
Around 21:30, a 17-year-old from Shumen, already convicted of drug offences, was stopped on Strandzha Street. A search turned up 2 grams of cannabis on him and 100 grams at his home on Dedeagach Street, plus an electronic scale. He was detained for 24 hours.

Man arrested for stalking estranged wife, another for threatening nurse
Shumen police are investigating two separate incidents involving threats and harassment.
A 37-year-old woman reported that her 41-year-old husband, from whom she is divorcing, has been systematically following her since the start of the year. The man was detained for up to 24 hours and pre-trial proceedings have been opened.
In Novi Pazar, a 54-year-old man allegedly threatened a 68-year-old nurse inside a medical facility around midday on Friday. He too was detained for 24 hours, and pre-trial proceedings are underway.

12-year-old killed in motorcycle collision near Provadia
A 12-year-old boy from Provadia died on Saturday afternoon after riding an unregistered cross-country motorcycle, owned by his parents, into a head-on collision with a car.
The crash happened around 14:35 on the main road between the villages of Staroselec and Gabarnitsa, just before Petrov Dol. Emergency medics pronounced the child dead at the scene. The car driver, also from Provadia, tested negative for alcohol and drugs. Police say the child suddenly veered into the car's path, causing the collision. Speed on the car's part was not a factor.
